Bee Swarming

We've been attending the SF Beekeeper's Association Club meetings to learn how to start our own bee farm.

The funny thing about beekeeping is that you will suffer from success - when a hive is healthy and grows to capacity, it will swarm - with half the hive's bees leaving with the queen and taking most of the hive's honey stores in the process.

It reminds me of startups, like how you end up with the Paypal mafia or the Palantir mafia or whatever, when the current pie isn't big enough for everyone. A lot of the proper maintenance of a beehive are actions to prevent swarming (sometimes by killing the queen and usurping her manually :( ). You can infer yourself what I'm saying about corporate culture.
